アメリカ・ニューヨークで行われた国際会議にキッズドアの生徒5名が参加しました！

9月下旬、キッズドアの無料学習会に通う生徒および卒業生の中から選ばれた5名（高校生１名、大学生4名）がニューヨークを訪れました。滞在中、彼らは「2025 Concordia Annual Summit」を傍聴させていただくという、大変貴重な機会を得ました。

この有意義な体験は、世界中の未解決な社会的ニーズに取り組むために、国際的なパートナーシップを育み、革新的なプログラムを創出し、チェンジメーカー（変革をもたらす人々）を支援することで、フィランソロピー（慈善活動）の再定義に取り組む団体「Libra Philanthropies」様のご支援によって実現しました。

「Concordia Annual Summit」は、世界のトップリーダーやイノベーターが一堂に会し、対話とコラボレーションを促進し、より公平で持続可能な未来への道を共同で切り開いていくことを目的として開催される会議です。15年以上の歴史を持ち、地域や世界の課題に対する具体的な解決策を探るために、国連総会と並ぶ最大級の超党派の招集プラットフォームを提供しています。 これまでの登壇者にはアメリカ合衆国歴代大統領や、国連事務総長、アメリカ合衆国国際連合大使などがいます。 

サミットでの体験は、生徒達にとって大きな挑戦でもありました。日本語でも難しいであろうトピックを英語で聞き、理解するにはチャレンジングではありましたが、AIの今後について、メンタルヘルスについて、環境問題や今なお続く紛争について各々のレベルで学びを吸収しました。

滞在期間中、生徒達はイスラエルやキプロス、コロンビアといった他の国からの学生団体とも自主的に交流し、日本での学校生活ではあまり触れる機会の少ない話題について意見交換する様子が見られました。生徒からは
「違う意見を持つことや自分の考えを思いのまま話すことができるのはとても楽しい！」
「色々な国に新しい友人ができて嬉しい」
そんな笑顔あふれる声が聞かれたことは、今回の大きな収穫のひとつです。

限られた自由時間ではタイムズスクエアやブロードウェイのミュージカルなども楽しみ、初めてのニューヨークを思う存分満喫していました。

In late September, five students—one high school student and four university students—who were selected from among current and former participants of Kidsdoor's free learning programs, visited New York. During their stay, they had the invaluable opportunity to attend the 2025 Concordia Annual Summit as listeners.

This invaluable opportunity was made possible through the generous support of Libra Philanthropies, a social impact independent foundation dedicated to redefining philanthropy by fostering international partnerships, creating innovative programs, and supporting changemakers, to address unresolved social challenges globally.

The Concordia Annual Summit is a conference where top global leaders and innovators gather to foster dialogue and collaboration, with the aim of jointly forging a more equitable and sustainable future. With a history spanning over 15 years, the Summit serves as one of the largest nonpartisan convening platforms alongside the United Nations General Assembly, dedicated to exploring concrete solutions to regional and global challenges. Past speakers have included former Presidents of the United States, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

Attending the Summit was a significant challenge for the students. Listening to and trying to understand complex topics—ones that would be difficult even in Japanese—presented a real test, especially in English. However, each of them was able to absorb meaningful insights at their own level on subjects such as the future of AI, mental health, environmental issues, and ongoing global conflicts.

During their stay, the students also interacted with student groups from other countries, such as Israel, Cyprus, and Colombia. They actively exchanged views on topics that they rarely discuss in their daily school lives in Japan. Some of the students shared their impressions, saying things like, "It's so much fun to be able to express my thoughts freely and hear different opinions!" and "I'm happy to have made new friends from around the world." These joyful remarks were one of the most rewarding outcomes of the trip. They also attended a Libra Philanthropies Learning Lab event, where young changemakers from around the world shared their perspectives on the importance of including youth voices in leadership and community building.

During their limited free time, the students fully enjoyed their first visit to New York, exploring iconic spots like Times Square and a Broadway musical.

All of them returned to Japan safely, filled with new knowledge and unforgettable experiences. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to Libra Philanthropies for their generous invitation and support.
