Toward a society
where all children can have
hopes and dreams

Unfortunately, Japan has become a challenging place
for children to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.
Our society faces numerous challenges affecting children - including
poverty, abuse, disability, bullying, suicide, school refusals,
depopulation, declining birthrate, and neglect, to name a few.
To build a better future for them,
we are determined to solve these social issues,
with child poverty as our top priority.
We aim to create a society
where all children can have hopes and dreams - with you.

Our Vision

Create a society
where all children can
have hopes and dreams.

Children are the foundation of our society, as our future depends on them.
We aspire to build a society where all children can grow up free to realize their hopes and dreams regardless of the circumstances they were born into.

Our Story

KIDSDOOR is and will
always be a supporter
of children.

When we started our activities in 2007, most people believed that there are no poor children in Japan.
“If no one does it, we will” – With this in mind our journey began. Since then we have dedicated ourselves to supporting children in need.

What We Do

What is truly needed to make children happy?
– Constant self-questioning began to bear fruit.

Children who study at KIDSDOOR free learning classes go on to university education, and then
often come back as volunteer tutors. After they graduate, they give back, making a meaningful
contribution to society. Our activities over the years are definitely making a difference.

Educational Support

Learning Places for All Children

  • Education Support

“Simply to improve test scores” - We at KIDSDOOR believe that that alone is not enough. Not only accommodating each student’s needs when we teach, but beyond that, we provide opportunities for them to truly grow through diverse interactions with volunteers. Learning at KIDSDOOR means a lot more for children than just studying there.

  • Providing comfortable places to stay

With the thought “let’s provide a third place for them, other than home and school”, we began providing comfortable spaces for children to stay. For children who feel they do not belong anywhere, we provide the places where they can relax. At KIDSDOOR, we help children to study, dine, talk openly or to simply recharge energy.

  • Career Workshop/
    Hands-on Experiences

KIDSDOOR encourages children to think carefully and specifically about their own future. We provide various events to inspire them, such as office tours, hands-on farming activities and lessons in manners. At these events children are provided special chances that they would have otherwise never been able to experience. “Now I have a dream!” We hear such voices from children through career workshops/hands-on activities.

Message from the Chairperson

Certified Nonprofit
Organization KIDSDOOR
Chairperson

Yumiko Watanabe

Thank you for your interest in KIDSDOOR.
It was 2007 when I established KIDSDOOR as a voluntary group. At that time, supporting children meant helping children in developing countries in Asia and Africa. Everyone thought “no child in Japan is poor, there is no one in need”. There were very few groups to support such children in Japan.
The longer our activities continue, the more society understands the reality of child poverty and necessity to resolve issues.
KIDSDOOR currently provides learning support and safe learning spaces for approximately 2000 children per year. We are so proud to have children attended our learning classes, broke the chain of poverty and made their ways to university education, acquired positions of regular employment with stable income. They come back to us as volunteer tutors to become a role model for many children to follow.

KIDSDOOR will continue to work for a society where no one hesitates to give birth to a child and where all children can grow up with hopes and dreams regardless of their background.
We hope to have your support for our children, the assets to our society.
